Serbian Wings of Friendship is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit uniting two nations through aviation, skydiving, and cultural exchange. From above, borders disappear — and what remains is a single sky we all share.
We use that perspective to do something rare: turn the thrill of flight into real, lasting good. Through dynamic events and aerial demonstrations we bring people together, honor the deep history the Serbian and American people share, and open doors for children who deserve every chance to rise.
Two flags, one sky
At twelve, a television commercial of skydivers sparked a vision; at eighteen he was serving in Serbia’s elite 63rd Airborne Special Forces Brigade. Today Dimitrije has built his career in the United States: more than 10,000 jumps, USPA & UPT tandem instructor-examiner, AFF instructor and canopy coach, a military freefall instructor who trains U.S. Navy SEALs — and a Team Fastrax demonstration jumper who opens air shows, speedways, and stadiums across America, carrying giant flags to a perfect landing.

Through dynamic events, aerial demonstrations, and humanitarian efforts, Serbian Wings of Friendship works to cultivate lasting friendships, honor our cultural heritage, and promote peace and unity across borders. It begins with children in Serbia and the United States — and our hope is to grow this sky friendship, and the support it carries, around the world.

Three days of Serbian food, live music, and kolo in Central Florida — and Serbian Wings of Friendship takes to the sky above it: founder Dimitrije Dadić jumps in carrying the largest Serbian flag in skydiving — 108 m² (1,163 sq ft).

A few milestones and today's numbers — for everyone who has ever looked up and wondered.
In 2025, USPA members made about 3.47 million skydives. The sport is many times safer than it was a generation ago: better equipment, strict regulations, certified instructors and rigorous training have steadily cut the risk even as jump numbers climbed year after year.
Tandem is by far the safest form of the sport. You are harnessed to a certified instructor with thousands of jumps who flies the parachute, watches the altitude and lands you — your only job is to enjoy the view.
Every rig carries a main and a reserve, packed by a certified rigger, plus an automatic device that opens the reserve on its own if needed. Today's equipment is certified, inspected and re-packed on a schedule set by the regulators.
Plan about two hours: paperwork, a 20–30 minute briefing (how to exit, how to arch, how to land), gearing up and the climb to 10,000–14,000 ft. Then about 60 seconds of freefall at around 120 mph and a 5–7 minute flight under the canopy.
Dorothy Hoffner of Chicago made a tandem jump at 104 in 2023, the oldest ever. President George H. W. Bush jumped at 90. The oldest solo jumper on record was 84.
Modern "ram-air" canopies are inflatable wings: they are steered, flared and landed softly on your feet — a world away from the round military chutes of the past. That is what lets a 108 m² flag fly beside one.
